Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us, especially because our work involves some of your most sensitive information. This policy explains what we collect through this website, how we use it and how we protect it.
Information we collect
- Information you give us through our forms: your name, email, phone number, the services you're interested in, and anything you write in a message.
- Booking information you enter in our scheduling tool (Microsoft Bookings) when you book a consultation.
- Client information you upload to our secure client portal (TaxDome) once you become a client, which is also governed by your engagement letter.
- Basic technical information that web browsers send automatically, such as IP address and browser type. This website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when fonts load.
Website analytics and cookies
We use two analytics services to understand how people use our website so we can improve it:
- Google Analytics shows us things like which pages are visited, how visitors found us (for example, a search engine or a social media link), their approximate location (city or region) and their type of device and browser.
- Microsoft Clarity shows us how visitors interact with our pages, such as clicks, taps and scrolling, including heatmaps and session replays. Clarity masks what you type into forms, and we have set our forms so their contents are not recorded.
These services use cookies and similar technologies and process data on their own servers. We use them only to understand and improve our website. We do not use them to identify you or for advertising. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services and read the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Your choices. You can turn analytics off on your device at any time with the Privacy choices link at the bottom of every page. We also honor Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising.
How we use information
- To respond to your inquiries and schedule consultations
- To provide the services you engage us for
- To communicate with you about your account
- To meet legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations
- To protect the security of our systems and our clients
Tax return information
As a tax return preparer, we are subject to federal law, including Internal Revenue Code Section 7216, that restricts how we use and disclose tax return information. We do not use or disclose your tax return information for any purpose other than preparing your returns and providing the services you engage us for, unless the law permits it or you give us your written consent.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers that help us run our business (such as our client portal, scheduling, email, form, website analytics and payroll providers), who are required to protect it
- With independent bookkeeping contractors located outside the United States, who may access only the bookkeeping and accounting records of clients assigned to them. They cannot access tax returns, tax documents, Social Security numbers or taxpayer identification numbers. They are bound by a written confidentiality and data security agreement. We will not disclose your tax return information to anyone outside the United States unless you first sign a separate consent form as required by federal law, and signing that consent is never a condition of our services.
- With taxing authorities when we file on your behalf
- With others when you direct or authorize us to
- When required by law, subpoena or court order
How we protect information
As a tax preparer, we are treated as a financial institution under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the FTC Safeguards Rule. As required by that rule, we maintain a written information security program with administrative, technical and physical safeguards, and we use an encrypted client portal for exchanging documents. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please never send sensitive information by regular email, text or our website forms.
How long we keep information
We keep information as long as needed to provide services and meet legal, professional and tax record-keeping requirements, then dispose of it securely.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you marketing emails, by contacting us. Depending on where you live, including in some U.S. states and in Canada, you may have additional privacy rights. We will respond as required by applicable law. Some information we must keep to meet legal obligations.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information through this website.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
